Summary of the first episode
Andrew sails towards the sea of efficiency
Andrew finds out a group of specialists in energy efficiency and asks them to have an interview. The CEO asks them:“You say that you are energy efficiency specialists, but, do you know that Aquarium processes are complex?
Do you know that we have close ties for the process? Animals wellness must be at the first place. They are not comfortable with temperatures oscillations and could have health problems. Reducing energy consumptions by means of a comfort temperature reduction is strictly deprecated. How can you help us?”
The energy efficiency team (EET) answers: “We are not expert in aquarium processes, You are the experts. We are expert in energy efficiency of complex systems. The only way to obtain energy efficiency is work together.
You know the process and its constraints, we know energy efficiency of components as pumps, fans, chillers, boilers, and so on. The right way is always that everyone works with his skills, know-it-alls ruined the world”
Carl and the CEO appreciate the EET approach and engage them for the Energy Saving project of the aquarium.
Into the storm
Carl and the EET works hard every day until late night.
They analyze in depth each process, each main component that can produce relevant savings. They measure, simulate, and study.
Carl is happy for this approach.
He makes available 20 years of experience to the EET assembling and disassembling pressure nipples on filtration circuit, digital multimeters on electrical panels, opening and closing delicate valves.
He knows that water filtration is one of the most energy expensive process of the whole aquarium.
He feels that they are on the right way. Filtration pumps can contribute up to 40% of the energy consumption of the structure.
In a hard work night, during a differential pressure measure, Carl and the EET direct their attention to the automations of the filtration process.
They discover that the automations implemented for 20 years were outdate and calibrated on a constant flow process, without modulation, with useless pressure drops along the water filtration circuit.
LAAAAND!!!
During that night they found a great energy saving opportunity.
Carl and the EET are happy and they look forward to communicate the results to the CEO.
After a calculation period they estimate an energy saving of 10% of the whole electric energy consumption, more or less equal to 150.000,00 €/year of money saving, only eliminating pressure drops on the water circuits maintaining all species in perfect comfort conditions.
Hearing these news the CEO realizes that his marketing target has been achieved and he has also obtained a huge saving on the 4th voice in his operating costs.
To the safe harbor
Energy savings in aquariums are possible and his Aquarium reached them. FOR REAL.
Now it’s time to advertise energy savings all over the audience and competitors.
And last but not least, the EET work has been paid by the savings in less than 1 year. Excellent.
Carl is deeply satisfied of his work and he also acquired new knowledge of energy efficiency.
The EET is already on another plant.
Ready to realize new, great energy savings.
This is a real story.
With an Happy ending.
But…. what about your Aquarium?
Have you ever tried to track down the huge inefficiencies as Andrew did?
You know, starting your energy efficiency path, it’s really easy and simple.
Request your FREE ENERGY BENCHMARKING
It’s easy, simple and can be the beginning of the path to the same kind of benefits as Andrew!
You just have to send us your monthly energy consumption for at least one year.
We will then send you your Free Energy benchmarking where you will:
- learn how much energy your competitors use (any competitor name won’t be provided)
- know what is your positioning against them
- receive some simple tricks to start energy efficiency in your acquarium.
NB: The benchmark will be more accurate as will be detailed the data you provide to us.
If you want to do your Energy Benchmarking by yourself, read our free guide!
We are Exco.
We are specialist in providing the Energy intelligence for complex plants.
As we are born from engineering, we know details of plants operation, we are not “the professors”, and we do not sell tools or abstract consultancy, but we dirt our own hands together with our customers, to make complex plants work better.
And we thank you for your attention and we are looking forward to get in touch soon!
